What Will Come With a New Goat?

Every goat will come with an updated CD&T vaccine, Hoof trim, a small bag of grain, a small bag of minerals, and a flake of hay to get you started off. Each goat will also come with a health record which will have all information on your goat.

Reserving and Payment

We require a non-refundable deposit to reserve and/or hold any animal. No animal will be held without a deposit.

The minimum deposit is $50 per animal. Certain animals may require a higher deposit, based on their sales price.

Deposits are non-refundable. If you back out of the sale for any reason you forfeit the deposit.

We accept cash or PayPal for your deposit and for the final payment. Please bring exact change if paying in cash. If paying via PayPal send us your name, phone number, address, and e-mail address, as well as which animal you would like to reserve, and we will send you an invoice from our account. You do not have to have a PayPal account to pay via PayPal. You can use any debit or credit card and check out as a guest. We do not accept checks.

A pickup date MUST be agreed on before sending a deposit. We try to schedule pickups at least a week in advance so we can arrange our schedules accordingly.

We may be able to board the animal for an additional time while you prepare their new home but this needs to be agreed upon ahead of time.

We reserve the right to cancel any sale for any reason. If we choose to cancel a sale, we will refund ALL deposit money paid.  We reserve the right to retain any animal born for ourselves BEFORE filling deposits.

We price our animals according to the time and investment we have in them. We feel our prices are more than fair and they are non-negotiable.

Things to Consider

  • Goats are herd animals and they need at least one other buddy to keep them company
  • Goats need a dry, draft-free home to keep out of the elements and safe from predators in addition to safe, secure fencing. Bedding should be kept dry and be pine shavings, straw, or other farm-type bedding.
  • They need good grass hay available to them 24/7, good browse or pasture, fresh, clean water daily, goat-specific minerals, and baking soda.
  • If you choose to supply goat feed, it must contain ammonia chloride
  • They need hoof trimmings done every 4 to 6 weeks, fecal testing for worms, and yearly vaccines of CDT shots. You should have a veterinarian that is familiar with goats and small ruminants in advance.
  • Wethers will usually be banded before going to new homes, unless they aren’t mature enough. You don’t need to do anything to the area. It will take a few weeks to a month or so for the process to be complete so if you are purchasing a doe and a wether you may need to separate them for a while or use a buck apron as they can be fertile at a young age, even with the band on.
  • New goat owners should be aware that weaning, rapid temperature changes, damp weather, extreme heat, and going to a new home can cause stress in goats. Stressed goats can be more susceptible to parasites and pneumonia. Goats can literally get sick overnight! Learn the warning signs to watch out for: diarrhea, runny nose, congested lungs, lethargy, anorexia, fever, depression, etc. Have a trusted small ruminant veterinarian lined up and/or medication on hand BEFORE bringing home your goats!

Pick up of Animals Sold

When deciding to get a goat from our farm please think about transportation. Buyers are completely responsible for arranging transportation. We are willing to travel short distances if needed. We prefer if the buyer comes to our farm to pick up your new goat. We are willing to drop off for shipping if needed.  When shipping a young animal via air, you are responsible for purchasing the appropriate pet carrier, health certificates, flight costs, and covering the mileage it takes us to get your animal to the vet and the airport. We will do our best to accommodate any arrangements made. If not picked up on the agreed time then a boarding fee of $3 a day will be charged.

Registration Papers

All registered animals will be tattooed and/or microchipped before leaving the farm, for registration purposes.

They will come with either final registration paperwork or applications for their appropriate registry and will be signed over to the buyer at the time of pickup.

If you have any issues or questions during the registration process, feel free to contact us.

Castrated males will not be registered if going for pet purposes but if you’re purchasing a show wether we will be happy to provide registration applications.

Health Record

All goats leaving our farm will be tattooed and have current CD/T shots. No animal will leave the farm unless we feel they’re in optimum health. When Laughing Stock Acers goats move to their new homes they will each be accompanied with a New Owner Notebook containing all their health records, pedigree information, and registration application papers. We will also provide a starter bag to make the transition to their new home as easy as possible. We promise that we will be as helpful as possible in the future should you need mentoring as a new goat owner. We are also happy to give you your first lesson in hoof trimming if you are new to goats. We greatly enjoy getting updates on how our kids are doing after leaving the farm as they will always have a special place in our hearts.

Health Guarantee

We guarantee the health of your goat when it leaves our farm. A buyer has the right to a vet exam at the buyer's full expense on any goats to be purchased.

Once the animal leaves the farm all sales are final. No further guarantee of health or quality is given or implied. Once an animal leaves our farm, the new owner is responsible for their health. Stress from being moved (and being weaned) can bring on numerous health issues quickly, shipping stress is not uncommon in animals. Should your animal become ill, please consider contacting a veterinarian immediately.

We are not responsible for the health of an animal purchased from us once it leaves the farm, as there are too many variables in care. If we are presented with a veterinarian’s official statement that the animal had a condition prior to transfer, such as infertility in males we will make arrangements to either get you a new male or refund.

We guarantee that our goats are negative for CAE, CL, Q-Fever, Johne’s disease for SIX days after they leave our farm. After six days we can not be responsible for these diseases. They can easily be picked up in their new environment or even brought home on your clothes from other places.
